Bodywork is done on a futon mat on the floor or on a massage table. The client remains fully clothed. Bodywork is a sister to what we think of as massage, however, it can access many more levels and layers of the body. For example: Shiatsu balances the oriental meridian system (the same system used in Acupuncture), Cranio-Sacral Therapy balances the cerebrospinal fluid motion, Myofascial Release deals with the fascia layer of the body, Muscle Energy Therapy is assisted isometric exercises that retrains muscles to hold structure in balance and Trager allows for a kinesthetic awareness of areas of holding or tightness and allows for release of that tension.
At SoulWell, bodywork is performed to the priority and needs of the client. You may receive a combination of many modalities of bodywork at any one given time. Since bodywork affects the body at multiple levels and layers, it is possible to release long-held traumas and injuries from the body that show up in daily life as chronic pain and illness.
Massage is done on a massage table with the use of organic oils or homeopathic based creams. The client disrobes and is fully draped with modesty at the highest priority. Swedish massage is what we all think of as a “massage”…getting your body and your muscles rubbed in rhythmic and long sweeping and/or circular strokes. It is soothing, nurturing and produces a good feeling all the way down to the soul.
